North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-kwan warns his country could test-launch more missiles.

The Japanese daily Asahi Shimbun reported from Beijing Sunday that Kim also told American expert on North Korea Robert Scalapino in Pyongyang Thursday that the North still wants a diplomatic resolution to the nuclear standoff.

Kim is North Korea's chief negotiator to the six-party talks on Pyongyang's nuclear program. Scalapino visited Pyongyang last week at the North's invitation and went to Beijing after his visit.

A professor emeritus at the University of California-Berkeley, Scalapino said that for a diplomatic resolution, Kim urged bilateral dialogue with the United States and cited U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill's proposed visit to Pyongyang as an option.
