The North’s official daily Rodong Shinmun has strongly criticized U.S.-led multinational naval exercises, calling it a reckless attempt to provoke a war.

The paper said in its Monday commentary that the world’s largest naval war game is an extremely provocative and dangerous move.

The month-long naval drills called RIMPAC convenes every other year. This year's participants are South Korea, the United States, Japan, Britain, Australia, Canada, Chile and Peru.
