"UN Resolution Won't Affect Inter-Korean Projects"

Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok says a U.N. resolution imposing limited sanctions on North Korea for its recent missile tests will not affect key inter-Korean projects.

In an interview with a KBS radio Tuesday, Lee said the Gaesong industrial complex and the Mount Geumgang tour program will go forward without being affected by the U.N. resolution.

He said the U.N. resolution does not ban general economic exchanges even though it prohibits shipments of equipment and financial support related to missiles and weapons of mass destruction.

However, Lee was quick to stress Seoul’s firm stance against Pyongyang’s missile tests, citing the suspension of rice and fertilizer aid to the North, a move that has not been called for by the U.N. resolution.
