Hyundai Asan Seeks to Counter NK's Cancellation

Hyundai Asan Corporation is trying to devise countermeasures after North Korea Wednesday unilaterally cancelled inter-Korean family reunions and halted the ongoing construction of a reunion center on the North’s Mount Geumgang in protest of South Korea's suspension of rice and fertilizer aid.

Hyundai Asan, South Korea’s main operator of inter-Korean tourism projects, said Thursday that it is trying to grasp the situation after Pyongyang notified it of its suspension of the construction late Wednesday.

Some one hundred-50 staff including about 50 employees from Hyundai Asan and Hyundai Engineering and Construction are working at the construction site.

The construction for the reunion center is about a quarter of the way toward completion.
