Hyundai Asan Withdraws All Workers from NK Site

South Korea’s main operator of inter-Korean tourism projects, Hyundai Asan, said Friday that it has pulled its workers and equipment from the construction site of the reunion center in North Korea's Mount Geumgang resort area.

The pullout follows an earlier notification from the North that South Korean workers should withdraw from the construction site before Saturday.

The company’s one hundred four construction workers returned to the South after going through an inter-Korean transit procedure at around 5:10 p.m.

A Hyundai Construction and Engineering official said that it had felt like “business as usual” at the site, adding that his company was ready to get back to work if and when the inter-Korean relations improve.

Meanwhile a construction worker said he was concerned about his livelihood because of the suspended work.
