Two second-half headers from veteran striker Hwang Sun-hong and midfielder Yoo Sang-Chul gave South Korea a 2-1 victory over Mexico on Friday in their second A Group match of the Confederations Cup at Munsu Football Stadium in Ulsan.

Yoo scored the winning goal in the 90th minute when he nodded in a left corner kick from Kyoto Purple Sanga player Park Ji-sung into the lower right hand corner of the Mexican goal in front of 43,000 fans.

The defeat means that Korea has a glimmer of hope that it could move on to the semi-finals depending on its performance with Australia in the third and final match of the Group A preliminary tournament scheduled for Sunday.

Aware of the make-or-break nature of the games, the two teams came out fighting, but in the first half, it was the South Koreans who dominated possession of the ball and play.
