Vietnam pledges to support S. Korean builders

An official from South Korea's Ministry of Construction and Transportation said Saturday... Vietnam has pledged to provide support to South Korean construction firms operating in the Southeast Asian country.

The pledge was made at a meeting Friday between South Korean Construction and Transportation Minister Oh Jang-seop and Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam.

Oh arrived in Hanoi Wednesday to seek support for South Korean companies and pay a visit to the Vietnamese leader.

Cam reportedly said that Vietnam wishes to have more South Korean firms invest there and is ready to give support to them in line with South Korea's model for economic development.

In return, the South Korean minister promised to increase economic aid for Vietnam and acquaint Vietnamese employees with new construction technologies.

During the meeting, Oh also briefed Cam on the status of South Korea's major builders, including Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co.
