A group of some two-hundred local civic groups are discussing ways to support North Korea’s relief efforts in the wake of the unprecedented rainfall in the region.

The Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation convened a meeting of leading officials in Seoul early Wednesday morning.

The group is likely to decide on providing private relief support to North Koreans who have suffered extensive flood damage from the torrential rains last month.

Meanwhile, the South’s June 15 joint declaration committee is planning to discuss possible relief assistance with its North Korean counterpart when they meet at Mount Geumgang for talks next Tuesday.
