North Korea has blasted South Korea for its recent launch of the multipurpose Arirang 2 satellite, calling it a provocative act.

A spokesman for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland Committee told the North’s official Korean Central News Agency Wednesday that the launch of a satellite aimed at spying on the North is a grave provocation that will spark regional tension.

The spokesman also claimed that satellites equipped with a multi-spectral camera lens that offers one-meter-level high-resolution images can be used for military purposes and is thus subject to international control.
