'NK Missile Units Located Near DMZ'

A South Korean researcher says the North Korean headquarters for missile units are located in a village some 50 kilometers north of the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea.

A professor at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security Yun Deok-min made the claim in his research report issued last month.

Yoon said that the missile units, comprising of several battalions and backup forces, have Scud-type Hwasung 5 and 6 missiles along with some 30 mobile launch pads.

The short-range Hwasung 5 missiles have a range of up to four hundred-30 kilometers and Hwasung 6 up to five hundred-50 kilometers.

The research paper also said that in light of the location, the units are capable of hitting all strategic targets and industrial facilities in South Korea including the southern port city of Busan and rear supply bases.
