NK Dismantled Missile Launch Pad

Written: 2006-08-04 14:16:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

A South Korean official says that North Korea dismantled the launch pad of its long-range Daepodong Two missile some two weeks after the missile was test-fired.

Another official said that no activities have been detected around the launch pad since the missile’s launch on July fifth.

The dismantlement may imply that Pyongyang has no intention to fire more ballistic missiles after last month’s missile launch allegedly failed due to technical problems.

But the official said the whereabouts of one of the two Daepodong missiles that had been moved to the launch site earlier is unknown.
