The government has almost come to a decision on helping civic groups provide humanitarian aid to flood-ravaged North Korea, and rice will likely be included in the relief materials.

Rice aid is also expected to ease strained inter-Korean relations in the wake of the North’s missile tests.

However, the South Korean government may come under fire for reversing its position to suspend providing rice and fertilizer to the North until a breakthrough is made in the North’s missile issue.
