Baseball slugger Lee Seung-yeop has caught the attention of U.S. news media after hitting his 400th career homerun last week.

The Associated Press on Sunday released a story on his career and records, predicting he will join the U.S. Major League Baseball.

The article called Lee the sole shining star in his team, the Yomiuri Giants of Japan, adding the New York Yankees are taking an interest in him.

Lee told the AP that he feels confident of taking on any pitcher and that his team has no reason to bench him anymore.

Teammate and pitcher Jeremy Powell has hailed Lee as "a most powerful batter."
