A pro-North Korean paper in Japan reports about eight-hundred people were dead or missing from the recent torrential rains in North Korea.

The newspaper published by the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, Chosun Shinbo, reported in its Internet edition Monday that more than three-thousand people were injured from the heavy rains from July 14th to 16th.

The report also said 28-thousand families were left homeless with four-thousand-400 homes completely wrecked and 23-thousand hectares of farmland washed away.

It is the first time for the communist country to disclose details of disaster damage.
