A South Korean company and civic groups on Wednesday sent relief aid to North Korea.

Seoul’s main operator of inter-Korean tourism projects, Hyundai Asan, is sending five-hundred tons of cement and two-hundred tons of flour to North Korea’s Geumgang County in Gangwon Province, one of the hardest hit areas by the recent torrential rains.

An organization comprising of 51 civic groups is also sending 40 tons of flour through a vessel traveling between Incheon in South Korea and Nampo Port on the North's west coast.

The Korea Foundation for World Aid plans to send 15 tons of glucose powder, the first batch of 30 tons.

The domestic branch office of the international relief organization Join Together Society is set to deliver one-hundred tons of flour and two-thousand pairs of shoes, while another organization Good Neighbors will provide some 500-million won worth of clothes and instant noodles.
