NK Grain Production Forecast to Decrease

North Korea’s gain production is projected to decrease by 32-thousand tons this year due to last month’s torrential rains.

Government sources say that some 30-thousand hectares of farmland were damaged and that shortages in building materials would delay the restoration of damaged houses and farmland for months.

On international relief efforts, the sources said the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies delivered emergency relief aid, and the World Food Program was negotiating with Pyongyang to provide food aid.

The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs also plans to join in the efforts if the North Korean government makes an official request.
