The Justice Ministry said Friday it has set a grace period of June 11 through July 31 for aliens staying in the country beyond their visa period to leave the country of their own accord.Ministry officials said....aliens illegally staying the country who will leave the country within this 51-day period will not be punished any way, nor will they face any fines.
They added...the grace period has been set because the number of foreigners staying in the country against the law sharply increased from 99,000 at the end of 1998 to 210,000 now.
Those wishing to leave the country within the period may leave through immigration offices at all the sea and air ports of the country and their employers will not be punished. On the other hand, controls over illegal immigrants will be intensified during the grace period, and those found staying beyond their authorized period will be deported and banned from re-entering the country, while their employers will be punished.
