S. Korea Thrashes Taiwan 8-0 in AC Qualifier

South Korea thrashed Taiwan with an 8-0 win in the Asian Cup 2007 qualifying match Wednesday, maintaining its top spot in Group B.

The first goal came from Seol Ki-hyeon of the English Premier League team Reading in the fourth minute of the match held at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.

Then a minute later, Jung Jo-gook scored a header for the second goal.

Seol then scored his second goal in the 43rd minute followed by another one from Jung just before the end of the first half.

Cho Jae-jin added goals in the 65th and 82nd minute, and Kim Do-heon in the 79th.

Jung scored a hat-trick with the last and his third goal of the game a minute before the final whistle.

With Wednesday’s victory, South Korea leads Group B with ten points.

The top two teams from each of the six qualifying groups will join host nations Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand in the final round of next year's Asian Cup.
