The government Thursday announced that an 85-percent tariff reduction will be offered from Friday on 92 import items used for construction of the facilities for the 2002 World Cup soccer finals and Asian Games.

The ministry expects that the tariff reduction will allow provincial governments to save up to 3 billion won.

The government currently imposes tariffs on construction materials for the roofs of stadiums, rubber tiles, electric motors, cassette decks, graphic equalizers and speakers.
