Summit Expected to Reinvigorate N. Korea Nuke Talks

Vice Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan said Wednesday that the upcoming Korea-U.S. summit is expected to revive efforts to resume the six-party talks on North Korea’s nuclear programs, as the two allies reaffirm peaceful and diplomatic resolution of the issue.

Yu told reporters that the summit between presidents Roh Moo-hyun and George W. Bush in Washington will reaffirm their determination for solid, comprehensive bilateral relations.

He added the two leaders will also reconfirm their commitment to a mutually beneficial free trade agreement, as well as have in-depth and constructive discussions on major issues including the North Korean nuclear program.
