CNN Founder to Visit Koreas Next Month

CNN founder Ted Turner and former U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Donald Gregg will reportedly visit South and North Korea on October 30th for a five-day tour.

The two visitors are reportedly seeking to meet with President Roh Moo-hyun and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il during their visit.

If realized, the meetings could allow indirect dialogue between the two leaders amid strained inter-Korean relations due to the North’s missile tests and nuclear programs.

A diplomatic source in the U.S. said Monday that the planned visits would try to get the two leaders to each send a delegation to a peace park under construction in South Africa.

Ted Turner visited the two Koreas last August to propose peaceful use of the demilitarized zone including creation of an ecological preserve.
