NK Diplomat Denounces Sanctions

The North Korean Foreign Ministry says economic sanctions and other actions it called "invasive" cannot be justified.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency quoted Vice Foreign Minister Choe Su-hon as urging developing countries to reject what he termed "oppressive measures" against the North.

At the annual foreign ministers meeting of the Group of 77 on Friday, Choe called for joint efforts against unilateralism and authoritarianism.

Since 1964, the Group of 77 has been the largest coalition of Third World countries at the United Nations, promoting their collective economic interests and cooperation among developing economies.

North Korea has been an active member since joining the group in 1973.
