Parliament adopts resolution to host 2010 World Expo

The parliamentary committee promoting South Korea's hosting of the 2010 World Expo adopted a resolution Tuesday seeking cooperation from expo organization members.
The resolution noted South Korea's successful hosting of the 1988 summer Olympics and the 1993 Taejon Expo and said the country is fully capable of hosting the world expo.
The resolution, addressed to 88 members of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE), proposed opening the 2010 expo in Yosu, Jeollanamdo Province.
It said...South Korea's southern coastline boasts over 2,000 islets and an abundance of marine life, promising grand scenery and a stunning background for the expo.
