Gov't Halts Flood Aid to NK

The government has temporarily suspended aid to ease flood damage in North Korea following
the announcement that it conducted a nuclear test Monday.

The Unification Ministry says scheduled shipments of four thousand tons of cement on Tuesday and rice on Sunday have been delayed.

The ministry said it will finalize a halt to the aid to Pyongyang after confirmation of the nuclear test and talks with the National Security Council.

The flood aid that began in late August was to conclude later this month. Nearly 90-thousand tons of rice and 30-thousand tons of cement have been delivered so far out of one hundred- thousand tons pledged for each item.
