The government says no signs suggesting radioactive leakage have been found from North Korea's nuclear test.

The Ministry of Science and Technology said Tuesday that 38 radioactive monitoring stations nationwide stepped up monitoring activities shortly after the North’s announcement that it had conducted a nuclear test.

The ministry said the stations have yet to find any signs of radioactive leakage.

The ministry added that radioactive leakage, if any, would be limited to areas near the test site.

The ministry said that even though the possibilities of finding any contamination are slim, it will continue its search and monitoring activities.

Earlier on Monday, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said Pyongyang had safely conducted an underground nuclear weapons test without any radioactive leakage.
