NK Diplomat Justifies Nuke Test

North Korean Ambassador to the U.N. Pak Gil-yon claims that North Korea's nuclear ambition is a justifiable reaction to 50 years of hostile U.S. policy.

He argued at a U.N. General Assembly committee meeting on disarmament that the need for weapons of mass destruction was prompted by threats from those already possessing nuclear arms.

He also repeated what he had said earlier to international news outlets including CNN that the U.N. Security Council should congratulate the North on its successful nuclear tests, rather than adopting what he termed an "useless, wicked and harsh" resolution or council president's statement.

On the possibility of additional tests, the North Korean envoy said that Monday's test was enough.
