Foreign media say North Korea's capital city seems calm and peaceful after the reported nuclear test on Monday.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency and Russia’s Itar-Tass said Wednesday that Pyongyang was calmer than usual on Monday, a day sandwiched between the ninth anniversary of Kim Jong-il’s appointment as leader of the Workers Party and the 61st anniversary of the party's foundation.

They also said that commemorative events were held in various places around the city but involved neither a large-scale military march nor rallies celebrating a successful nuclear test.

The reports added that Pyongyang citizens were aware and proud of the test but didn't know of the international community's condemnation.
