Ford Korea is recalling its sports utility vehicle Explorer due to defective tires.
A company official said the company has decided to voluntarily recall the vehicles because Firestone Wilderness tires on the Explorer could suffer tread separation and trigger accidents.
Ford will soon notify owners of sport utility vehicle.
The U.S. automaker has sold about two hundred-50 Explorers in Korea since 19-96.
The owners can have their tires replaced for free at authorized auto repair shops until the end of May two-thousand-six.
Tire blow outs on Explorers reportedly have caused hundreds of deaths and injuries in the Americas, but there have been no cases reported locally.
