N. Korea Seeks People's Unity Via Events

North Korea is seeking to solidify unity among its people by utilizing a number of events amid increasing U.S.-led international pressure on the communist country following its nuclear test.

According to North Korean media reports on Wednesday, large-scale events took place across the country to mark the 80th anniversary of its anti-imperialistic alliance.

The North’s Korean Central TV reported that tens of thousands of people held a torchlight street parade Tuesday night before pledging loyalty to their leader Kim Jong-il.

In a commentary on Wednesday, the TV station also urged the North Korean people to feel triumphantly confident as their victory was dawning despite U.S. pressure.

Pyongyang Broadcast Service also stressed unity of the Workers’ Party and called upon North Koreans to unite under Kim Jong-il.
