Uri Party Chief Urges NK Not to Pursue Testing

The head of the ruling party has urged the North to refrain from further nuclear testing during a visit to the inter-Korean Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea on Friday.

In a congratulatory speech marking the second anniversary of the Gaesong Industrial District Management Committee, Uri Party Chairman Kim Geun-tae said Pyongyang must keep its promise of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula to maintain a favorable environment for the inter-Korean business project.

He also reiterated that the Gaesong complex and Mount Geumgang tourism projects should never be abandoned as they are two pillars for peace and common prosperity of the Korean people.

Kim told reporters that the opinions of Koreans on Korean Peninsula-related issues should be respected.
