Smoking banned in stadiums during World Cup

Ministry officials said Monday that the Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with world soccer's governing body FIFA and the World Health Organization (WHO), will ban smoking in football stadiums during the 2002 World Cup.
Officials added...the Ministry and the Korean organizing committee for the World Cup (KOWOC) will announce a five-minute "clean-up time" after each match, during which spectators will be asked to collect and dispose of the trash near their seats.
A ministry official said...FIFA and KOWOC agreed to make the 2002 World Cup a 'smoke-free' one.
He added...the ministry will collaborate with the hosts to make the event both environment-friendly and efficient.
South Korea and Japan will co-host the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals in May and June next year.
