The presidential office said Thursday that the South Korean government is not pursuing an inter-Korean summit for now.

President Roh Moo-hyun’s spokesman Yoon Tae-young told a regular news briefing that it is up to the president to decide whether to seek a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

Yoon also denied an earlier media report that envoys of Roh and Kim have met secretly in Beijing and agreed to push for an inter-Korean summit.
