Report to U.N. Lacks Further Sanctions on N.K.

A government report to go to the United Nations Security Council sanctions committee Monday is known not to include more sanctions on North Korea for its nuclear test.

Sources say Seoul's position is that no further items remain to impose sanctions on, given strict bans on weapons of mass destruction already on the committee's list of banned trade items with the communist state.

The government, however, will stress its intent to strictly implement the sanctions based on existing laws and regulations.

Implementation of the sanctions will involve inspection of cargo on North Korean vessels using domestic ports and searching North Korean ships traveling South Korean waters if necessary.
