Foreign Minister Han Seung-soo began his three-day visit to Geneva by meeting with WHO Director-General Gro Harlem Brundtland Tuesday afternoon.
During the talks at the WHO headquarters, Brundtland expressed his hopes of making successive visits to South and North Korea to mark the opening of a permanent WHO office in Pyongyang early last month.
Minister Han said he hopes the WTO director-general's scheduled trips will bear fruit like that of Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson in his capacity as EU chairman in early May.
Han also expressed his government's intent to make 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup finals a "no-tobacco event."
He said the Korean government is also considering its participation in the Global Fund aimed to eradicate AIDS.
