Five nations agree on joint research on disposal of nuclear waste

Japan's Asahi Shimbun reported Wednesday South Korea, the United States, Japan, China and Taiwan agreed to conduct joint research on the disposal of nuclear waste.
Five nuclear energy-related research institutes plan to have the main focus of the joint project on the burial of radioactive waste and its impact on underground water sources.
The paper said operation details of the research, such as financing and ownership of intellectual property rights, will be discussed further at a meeting in Seoul next month.
