A South Korean government official says North Korea could dismantle its nuclear weapons if its requests and conditions are satisfied through the dismantlement.

The official on Friday also said he believes Pyongyang is likely to consider Washington’s proposals seriously.

The official added that at their latest meeting in Beijing, the U.S. proposed in a firm and sincere way that the North could be compensated for scrapping its nukes. Pyongyang, he said, may therefore take the proposals more seriously than before.
