Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok visited the Gaesong Industrial Park in North Korea and pledged support for the development of the inter-Korean economic project.

During the visit, Lee said that goods manufactured at Gaesong should be transported to South Korea’s southern port city of Busan as soon as possible.

Meeting with the heads of South Korean firms operating at the site, he reaffirmed that Seoul would carry on with the joint industrial project, vowing to take necessary measures to resolve difficulties faced by the companies.

The visit comes amid stalled talks between the two Koreas since North Korea's nuclear test in October.
