A group of 12 ruling and opposition lawmakers of the National Assembly's "Reconciliation and Advance Forum" left for Beijing Monday for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation led by Rep. Lee Bu-young a vice president of the opposition Grand National Party, will meet their Chinese counterparts to discuss ways to launch a meeting of Korean, Chinese and Japanese lawmakers.
They will also meet with Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan, Zeng Jianhui chairman of the National People's Congress' foreign affairs committee, and other political leaders to exchange opinions on issues of mutual concern like the subject of Japanese history textbooks which are widely-considered as attempts to whitewash Japan's past aggression.
