Japanese security officials say instability in North Korea is worsening as the gap is widening between the wealthy and the general public.

According to a report issued by Japan’s Public Security Investigation Agency on Sunday, North Korea’s economic instability and widespread corruption among military and security agencies has led to increasing social imbalance.

The report said that with growing uncertainty in North Korea, the authority of the country's leader Kim Jong-il is likely to diminish.
