A South Korean zoo plans to exchange two lions for two bears and seven foxes with a North Korean zoo this week.

The Unification Ministry said Thursday that the exchange will take place on Friday between Seoul Grand Park and Pyongyang's Central Zoo.

Seoul Grand Park plans to bring the animals from the North via an overland route running through the demilitarized zone.

The two zoos have exchanged animals six times since 1999, with 41 animals of 18 species brought into the South and 48 animals of 23 species sent to the North.
