Nation to Send Squad of 166 to Winter Asian Games

The nation will send a 166-member squad to the sixth Winter Asian Games set to open in Changchun in the Chinese province of Jilin on January 28th.

The Korean Olympic Committee said Wednesday that it recently submitted to the event’s organizing committee a final list of one-hundred-26 athletes and 42 officials to compete in five events: skating, skiing, ice hockey, curling and the biathlon.

Speed skaters Ahn Hyun-soo and Jin Sun-yu and rising figure skating star Kim Yu-na will participate in the competition.

The nation finished second in the 2003 Asian Winter Games in Aomori with ten gold medals, eight silver and ten bronze.

Meanwhile, the nation will send a 123-member team to the 22nd Torino Winter Universiad, which will run from January 17th to the 27th.
