President Kim Dae-jung sent a congratulatory message Saturday to Chinese President Jiang Zemin on Beijing's being awarded the 2008 Summer Olympics.
In the message, President Kim said...quote...on behalf of the Korean people and the government I sincerely extend my congratulations that Beijing was awarded to be the host city of the 2008 Summer Olympics at the 112th general meeting of the International Olympic Committee held in Moscow Friday...end quote.
Expressing his belief that China's hosting of the Olympic Games will promote significant national development and contribute greatly to promoting world peace, President Kim said that the friendly and cooperative relations between South Korea and China will increase further in the course of China's preparations for the Olympiad.
