Downpour leaves 54 dead or missing

Torrential rains that hit Seoul and Kyonggi Province from late Saturday left 54 dead or missing.
The National Disaster Prevention and Countermeasures Headquarters said 34,529 homes were submerged.
Seoul saw the largest amount of casualties with 28, while Kyonggi Province and Inchon registered 22 and four, respectively.
Reports say 19 people were electrocuted, 17 were swept away by raging flood water and 10 are thought to have drowned when their houses were flooded. Mudslides caused five deaths while three people were killed when buildings collapsed on top of them.
The deluge flooded 26,346 houses in Seoul, 6,215 in Kyonggi, 1,953 in Inchon and 15 in Kangwon Province and swamped 1,576 hectares of farmland.
The headquarters said...the rains also damaged 212 bridges and roads across the nation, and submerged 456 vehicles.
