A Japanese prefecture rejects distorted history textbooks

As anger spreads over Japan's distortion of history textbooks in South Korea ... a Japanese local education board has rejected the distorted history textbooks.
The Education Board of Fujioka village in Tochiki Prefecture Monday turned down an earlier decision to adopt the textbooks made by a local textbook panel citing distortions.
The rejection by the education board is considered a blow to a move to adopt the middle school history textbooks written by rightist historians.
Officials in South Korea expect the decision in Tochiki Prefecture would lead to similar rejections in other regions.
