Unification Minister Lee Jae-jeong said Thursday that he will try to hold reunions of separated families in North and South Korea on a regular basis.
He made the remark during a visit to a government agency for North Korean provinces while talking about the difficulties the government faces as it works to facilitate free exchanges, correspondence and reunions for separated families.
Regarding the Seoul’s suspension of humanitarian assistance to the North, Lee stressed that the two Koreas should have what he termed a “sincere” attitude toward each other.
He said that while the South is closely watching the ongoing six-party talks on the North's nuclear weapons program, the less time sanctions have to be placed on Pyongyang, the better.
