A South Korean government source said Wednesday former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is planning to visit North Korea in mid-August.
The source said the plan is part of the Habitat for Humanity program.
However, it added a schedule for the visit has not been confirmed yet, pointing out that a similar plan had to be scrapped last year.
Carter visited North Korea in 1994 to meet late President Kim Il-sung and acted as an intermediary between North Korea and the United States.
