Telephone Lines Repaired Linking UNC and NK

Communication lines at the border village of Panmunjeom linking North Korea and the United Nations Command have been repaired after a service disruption that lasted several months.

The United Nations Command said that telephone and fax lines in a joint office, the only means of direct communication between the command and North Korea, were fixed and reopened.

According to the command, four UNC engineers crossed the border to repair the telephone and fax lines, which the command had previously installed, in the office on the North Korean side. North Korea also sent a team of engineers to check its telephone in the office.

The command said that the telephone and fax lines were reopened with North Korea, as both agreed on the importance of communications between them.
