US Dollars and Euros Still in Use in NK

It has been confirmed that U.S. dollars and euros continue to circulate in North Korea.

A South Korean news outlet recently reported that North Korean authorities totally banned the use of foreign currencies from January 22nd.

A South Korean relief worker said that he used U.S. dollars and euros during a four-day stay in the North Korean capital that began on January 24th. He added that prices were still marked in euros at stores and restaurants.

He said that he noticed no foreign exchange shops there.

Another South Korean relief worker said that he experienced no inconvenience using U.S. dollars during a recent visit to North Korea.
