125 cases of Korea-Japan cultural exchanges delayed or cancelled

Japan`s Mainichi Shimbun has reported that 125 cases of cultural exchange programs between Korea and Japan have been either suspended or cancelled amid growing tension over the fabrication of Japanese history textbooks.
The paper said of those 125 cases, 97 cases are related to school exchange programs and most significantly, the suspension of civilian contacts in connection with the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, are expected to be affected.
The Yomiuri Shimbun also reported that 84 projects, mostly related to cooperative exchange programs initiated by Japanese local autonomous entities and civic organizations during the summer vacation, have been suspended indefinitely due to the controversial revisions of the Japanese history textbooks.
