Gaesong Complex Land Sales Due in March

The second round of land sales at the Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea is expected to take place as early as next month.

A government official said Friday that Seoul plans to begin selling the land next month following the resumption of the six-way nuclear talks, and as the first phase of construction is expected to be completed in June.

The government and the Korea Land Corporation had planned to put around 500-thousand pyeong or one-point-six square kilometers on sale beginning in June of last year but had to postpone the sale indefinitely following the North’s missile and nuclear tests.

Currently, a total of 39 firms have set up shop in the industrial park, with 22 firms currently in operation.
